Outdoors
Trim shrubs
Hide the lawn care equipment
Plant some flowers around the entrance of your home
If it is in the winter, add a wreath to your front door
Weed the landscaping, especially taking care to remove the weeds that grow in the cracks of concrete or driveway
Clean your windows
Keep your garage door closed


Indoors
First, look at each room in a new perspective.  Imagine you are the potential buyer.  What looks welcoming?  What doesn't?  Try new things to make the room look welcoming. 

Remove all magnets and pictures from the refrigerator
Put away all the appliances on the kitchen counter (toaster, can opener, etc.)
Tidy your desk
Organize your closets
Put away special collections and knicknacks
Declutter
Store extra clutter in attic or in a storage facility (not the garage)
Fix all those little repairs that you have been meaning to do...


Things to do right before a showing
Turn on all the lights, using dimmer feature when available
Close all toilet lids
Hide the wastebaskets
Turn on soft music
Sweep the front porch
Take your pet with you and hide their food bowls
Don't forget to clean the house!
